Maria Brenner

Maria Brenner is Full Professor of Children’s Nursing in University College Dublin. She holds a PhD, MSc and BSc from University College Dublin. She is on the register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland for Children’s Nurses and General Nurses for 29 years, and on the Nurse Tutors’ register for the past 20 years. Her clinical background is in intensive care nursing and her research is focused on the care of children with complex needs and their families. She is the recipient of numerous prestigious national and international research grants and has led numerous multidisciplinary research groups. She currently leads a €1.5 million programme of research, TechChild, funded by the European Research Council, exploring the initiation of clinical technology dependence. She collaborates widely internationally in this area including Gravitate Health, a partnership funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative, the European Commission and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries. She works with many international organisations and institutions supporting enhanced health of children, and mentoring and developing the next generation of researchers.
